Cliqz Search Engine

World Cup Tab
Feature

Project Overview
Cliqz search browser, based in Munich Germany, focused on user privacy and a built-in quick search engine.  Cliqz was looking for a way to increase user engagement through an in-browser feature.  With the World Cup of 2018 approaching, the World Cup Tab feature was launched to provide users with access to the games while browsing the web.
Role
Lead UI Designer throughout the project cycle from concept ideation, wireframes, collaborated with UX designer for responsiveness, and UI cohesiveness for both desktop and mobile platform. I also delivered assets in English, French, and German languages.

Cliqz Search Engine
World Cup Tab Feature
Challenge
Our challenge was to create a feature within the search browser to increase user engagement.  It had to be available in both mobile and desktop platform for users who already had Cliqz downloaded and in multiple languages for users in other countries. To keep both mobile and desktop platforms aligned, I made sure to design the in-browser feature experiences in parallel.
Solution
Since Cliqz is based in Munich, Germany and with a massive soccer following. One of the top queries was soccer/futbol. I researched the concept of having a World Cup Tab feature in the Cliqz Browser based off the query data. I analyzed the current interface structures of both desktop and mobile applications, did a competitive analysis of game score cards on other browsers, sketched different ideas on game score and brackets, collaborated with the UX/UI designers for desktop and mobile team to come to a cohesive design for development bypassing user-testing because the World Cup was kicking off.
Results
I saw the project through the final stages of development and returned to the U.S. shortly after I provided high-fidelity wireframes to our desktop team developer. The World Cup Tab went live on beta platform. I would have been interesting to experience user testing and to see the metrics on active app users, session length, and screen flow to measure the affect on engagement after the launch of the in Feature. This was my favorite project to work on because it combined my love for sports and allowed me to lead a project from ideation to launch.
